The many faces of Trevor

This kid can make some faces!  I could laugh at him all day long!  His eyes are so expressive!

Grandpa has mastered the art of putting Trevor to sleep.  And this is not an easy task!  He is so nosey and he thinks he will miss something if he closes his eyes.  He is not happy with grandpa when he wakes up from a nap and realizes he lost another battle.

He has learned to stand with help and that is all he wants to do now.  It's just a matter of time before he starts moving and grooving.

And he won't go in his car seat easily anymore either.  He is always trying to escape.

Who me?

His sweet kisses are lethal.  He either grabs your hair and pulls tight, or pinches your neck till you yelp.  Then  he pretends your face is a chew toy and covers you with drool.

He also likes to chew on his pacifier.
He looks sweet and innocent...
The boom...he tries to make his escape!

Last night I made greens beans and potatoes for Ken and Jon and decided to mash some up for Trevor.  This is one of the first times he has had "grown up" food.  He loved it!  Of course, I didn't get to eat because in Trevor's world nobody eats without him!

Personal Choice Awards

A few weeks ago we received a letter in the mail telling us that Jon was nominated for a Personal Choice Award.  Every teacher  is allowed an opportunity to recognize a student of their choice.  Each student chosen has demonstrated some character trait that has contributed in a positive manner to the overall school environment.  They do not tell the student who nominated them until the awards ceremony, but Jon's teacher let it slip awhile ago.  It was his welding teacher Mr. Jones.

The ceremony took place in the Performing Arts Center.  They called each kid up to the stage where the nominating teacher gave them a medal and the MC read aloud the reason the teacher nominated them. Many kids were chosen for a lot of different reasons.  I liked it because it just wasn't the smart kids that were recognized.  There were a few special needs students who got chosen and you could tell it meant a lot to them.  I have a great respect for the teachers who called out these students and made them feel like they are an important piece of the school.

"Jon is a very fine student and I am fortunate to have gotten to know him for the past year and a half.  He is always on-task when given a project and takes the extra effort to create the work-pieces correctly and efficiently.  Attendance, punctuality, and project completion seem simply routine to him when for others it takes effort.  Any teacher would love to have a class full of Wojo's.  Jon will be leaving in June for the U.S. Navy.  Thanks Jon, for your commitment in fighting for our freedom!"

Jon will get a Personal Choice Certificate with a picture of him and Mr. Jones.  He will also wear this medal with his cap and gown on Graduation Day.

Jon and his bfffffffff Brooke.  She was nominated by Mrs. Prazma for being super awesome too!!

Once again I will mention that Jon has had a super duper Senior Year.  I cannot be happier or more proud of him!

P.S.  the auditorium is a terrible place to take pictures!!!!

All Hail Casmir

Pulaski that is.  And that seems to be the motto of DuBois, Illinois.  The 3rd of this month we took a little road trip back to the "homeland" to bear witness to the Annual Casmir Pulaski Parade.  I believe I wrote about this last year, however, I still haven't wrapped my mind around the fact that this actually happens so I must post again.

Once again we had a wonderful time catching up with family.  We met Paul and Lenee and Aunt Marcie and Uncle Orlie.  It is always an adventure when we meet up with them at the Mule Barn.  Jon went with us this year and looked right in his element I am afraid to say  : )

 Jon's favorite flags!

Uncle Vince, One handsome soldier right there!

Eileen, this is Ritchie Wojtowicz's littlest one.  Vince is the oldest DuBois resident, Waylon is the youngest

Milk, it does a body good

Duck Dynasty  meets DuBois.  Actually this is Ken's cousin Eric.

Everyone's favorite, the Stag  Beer float

 Even Aunt Marcie got involved

Probably my favorite float.  Just a bunch of 21 years olds drinking beer along the parade route.

Anyone else see my mom and dad driving something like this?

I am going to venture a guess that this guy won't be part of the conclave tomorrow

Best. Idea. Ever.  A recycle truck for all the beer cans.  This dude made bank!

The weather was wonderful and we once again had a great time!  Can't wait for next year!!!
