A "40" kind of weekend

Yes I turned 40 this weekend.  And yes I did feel like it.  A bunch of our friends and us went camping this weekend in Bourbon Missouri at Blue Springs Ranch. It was us, the DeYongs, Staci's, Redstone's, and Klumps.  We had a great time and came back with quite a few stories.

The first one being that as I was getting ready to go float, I realized I forgot my swimsuit at home.  WHO DOES THAT?  So I made Ken wake up and take me into town so I could buy a new one.  Which was a good thing because Jenna forgot her nose spray and all night was complaning that she could die at any minute.  So my forgetfulness saved Jenna's life.  I will have to remind her of that sometime.

The weather was perfect for floating.  And that is exactly what I said 2 minutes before the thunder boomed.  Yep, that's right.  Thunderstorm.  And for a birthday surprise mother nature added a little hail.  And not the soft fluffy kind of hail, the ow ow ow ow ow hail.  ( Jenna and I were trying to decided if we could turn the cellulite on our bottoms into insurace as hail damage).  As the rain came down it got colder and colder.  Poor Carter, the one time he goes anywhere with me I almost get him killed.  We finally made it to a sand bank and hid under some bushes but they really didn't help.  Ken, Carter and I actually jumped into the river to keep warm.   30 minutes later the sun came out and all was great again.

These people were the highlight of my day.  A group of maybe 20 middle eastern families decided they were going to go on a float trip.  In their day clothes and life jackets.  Not a swimsuit among them.  Just what they would wear to their jobs.  I mean really......  We saw them a couple hours later playing in water that was shin deep and THEY STILL HAD THEIR LIFE PRESERVERS ON!!   Listen people, if you can't swim a river is not a great place to be.  Go horse back riding, or zip lining.  This is exactly how I picture the life boats after the Titanic hit the iceberg or maybe a group of Cubans trying to get to Florida.

 Mike just chillin'

Yes Debbie, Carter played on the rope swing

And the rains came down and the rivers came up

 Jenna was exhausted!

 As was Carter
