Bird Watching

One of my new hobbies is bird watching.  I have bird feeders everywhere and am planting flowers that attract birds.  Here are a few pictures of the birds that hung around with me today.

Instructions on putting a post into the ground

Ken, aka Snake Slayer, "planted" a pole today.  I plant flowers, he plants poles.  For a good cause of course, our satellite dish.  I am glad S. Slayer was in charge because I would have just dug a small hole and put a pole in it. Not Slayer.  Here is how it is done.

This is the tool you need.  I call it a hole digger thing.  Don't dig a hole without it.

S. Slayer is demonstrating how you put it into the ground.  You push it down into the hole....
Grab a chunk of dirt and pull it out....
Then continue until you reach the depth you need...

Once you place the pole you need to pack the dirt back in.   Here S. Slayer is using a large piece of wood to pack down the mud.

During the placing and packing of mud, you will need to keep making sure that the pole is level.  Here is S. Slayer demonstrating how it should be done.

These are all the tools that were used to place the pole.

And here's the pole put in place.  It is straight, I am was just crooked.

The Royal Wedding

Today was the wedding of Prince William and Kate.  Its all people are talking about.  And I love it!  I have two different channels recording it.  I am so excited.   After the wedding I called Ann and she commented on the engagement ring.  She said she could never wear a ring like that because she would be afraid to get it dirty or lose it.  I said well if you were a princess I don't think it would be a problem.  Which then Ann said "I AM a princess and I wouldn't wear it."

No self esteem problems there.....

Easter Sunday

We had a very busy Sunday.  First we went to Uncle Danny's house for an insane brunch.  Then we went to my moms for dinner.  I could go into details but its 10:30pm and I am tired and can't think of anything witty to say so I will let the pictures and my captions do the talking.

I will say I wish I got a picture of the food Aunt Colleen prepared.  She made hotel breakfasts look bad.    Omelets, french toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, salad, ham, asparagus, muffins, fruit....way to much food, but it was all so wonderful.

Oh, and it rained.

Harper was NOT afraid of the Easter Bunny.  And of course she loved her basket.
 Delaney was just as excited

Not too often do the grandkids get together in one place.

 Another rainy egg hunt

Harper was excited.  She founds lots of goodies in the eggs.

I think my mom bought Cate these glasses because she knows she will go everywhere with them on and it will drive Debbie crazy.  Smart one my mother is.

Carter helping Cate fish.  He is such an awesome big brother!!!

 My sassy little niece
 The Birthday Boy!!!

And he caught the first fish

Cate wanted to touch the fish.  Of course Ben let her.

Brady getting the "look" from Ann

Cate LOVES to wear Ann's heals.  And we know when she has them on because all you hear is "clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk...."  You get the idea...

I was glad to go to work on Monday where I could relax.  Another great holiday in the books.

Easter Saturday

Another rainy day, another day at the camper.  And this time we had the family up for lunch.  Butch, Jen, Delaney, Harper, Ann, and Cody joined Ken, Jon, and me at the camper.  I was afraid it was going to rain the whole time and the girls would be stuck on the porch all day but we got lucky.  After a wonderful lunch of kabobs, crockpot corn, green bean casserole, salad, and Ravenelli's bread we were able to fish and hunt Easter eggs.  I am calling the day a success.  Because I can.

Fishing with Uncle Kenny

I love Delaney's face in this picture.  She is so excited she caught a fish!

Yea Delaney!  She was the only one to catch a fish.
Hunting for Easter eggs.  I will admit this is a tradition I don't understand at all.  Why do we hide and seek eggs?  And why eggs?  Why not little cows or lambs.  And why is a rabbit supposed  to hide them?  And why do kids get candy?  Don't we already have a candy holiday?  Just some random thoughts I have every single time I see plastic eggs.

 ANOTHER FISH!!!!!
